One person was brought to the hospital Sunday evening after a car ran into an art gallery on Main street in Vineyard Haven.
Police and firefighters responded to 58 Main street around 8:20 p.m. after the vehicle crashed into Blue Fathom Gallery, according to Tisbury fire Chief Patrick Rolston. When his crews arrived, the car had been moved back away from the building into a parking spot.
The building, which houses the gallery and Island Music, sustained structural damage throughout the first floor, Chief Rolston said. The glass at the gallery broke, according to pictures from bystanders.
Tisbury police are investigating the crash and the sidewalk around Main street is closed, according to Chief Rolston.
“We’re going to be blocking off the area and make a temporary sidewalk on that side of the road so people aren’t walking directly near where the accident happened,” he said.
