Bethany Hammond, assistant director of the Up-Island Council on Aging, will be taking over as new director of the organization next month, after the West Tisbury select board voted to appoint her to the role at their meeting on Wednesday.
Ms. Hammond will take over for longtime director Joyce Albertine, who announced her plans to retire in November.
“We’re really thrilled,” said select board member Cynthia Mitchell, who also serves as chair of the council on aging board. Ms. Hammond was unanimously recommended to the select board for appointment.
“Thank you everyone for your trust and your confidence,” Ms. Hammond said.
Ms. Hammond will begin the new position on May 20.
