Harry Seymour

A New Year's Resolution

Not to fly away / If I were a bird / With a panoramic view / I’d see a paradox / Throughout the ages / In mankind’s inability / To reconcile / Hypocrisy with hope / Knowing what’s right.

Not to fly away

If I were a bird

With a panoramic view

I’d see a paradox

Throughout the ages

In mankind’s inability

To reconcile

Hypocrisy with hope

Knowing what’s right

Doing what’s not

May never forget

What’s too often

Cruelty and atrocity

Justified and rationalized

In hope of redemption

Possibly more enabler

Than antidote

In a revolving cycle

Of endless hope

Is my birds-eye view

As I look from the sky

Away I might fly

From hypocrisy

Were it not for

Hope wired inside.

Once again, this fine artist/poem has given us a new year's pause for reflection on what's ahead for all of us moving forward to a good place of love and joy, and value and benefit in our day to day experience ...... or not. We are all in this together, including nature!
