Five Island nonprofit organizations were honored on May 17 when the Cape and Islands United Way celebrated organizations receiving its community impact grants. More than $450,000 was awarded for 2023-2024.
The awards, made to programs that improve educational success, create housing stability, promote heealth and encourage economic stability, were announced at a reception held at the West End restaurant in Hyannis.
Nearly $60,000 in awards for on-Island organizations were made to: the Boys & Girls Club of Martha’s Vineyard for its after-school program; Hospice & Palliative Care of Martha’s Vineyard for its respite program; the summer lunch program at Island Grown Initiative, Martha’s Vineyard Community Services; and the Earth Knowledge program at Sassafras Earth Education.
