The recent coyote news is troubling, but vague. Are there five to six coyotes, or one that has been seen numerous times? People are advised to haze coyotes, scare them off, but that will not stop coyote predation of ground-nesting birds, including shorebirds. One writer opined that coyotes are “likely here to stay.”

It seems premature and foolish to surrender to a few invasive coyotes (or one) when the threat is easily removed by alert and careful action by a few hunters.
