The Federated Church of Edgartown will sell homemade cookies at Cronig’s Market in Vineyard Haven from 12 to 3 p.m. Saturday, March 12, with all proceeds going to the United Church of Christ-sponsored Ukraine Emergency Appeal for relief and aid to refugees.
The church seeks volunteers to bake, package or sell cookies. Anyone interested in doing so can call Mary Gentle at 508-627-8254 or obtain information through the church’s website at federatedchurchmv.org.
The UCC’s Ukraine Emergency Appeal will provide shelter, food and other care to war refugees and internally displaced people. It also will help refugees and asylum seekers from African, Middle Eastern and other countries who had sought refuge in Ukraine and now are twice displaced, as well as other citizens of more than 125 countries who are living in Ukraine.

If only this bake sale might be a regular event to raise funds and to allow everyone on Martha's Vineyard something constructive to do to support Ukraine. There are so very many talented Vineyard bakers, cooks, chefs, etc. -- and with a good amount of time on their hands right now. Perhaps an even more expanded offering of goods might be sold going forward to continue to raise funds? Our fellow human beings urgently and desperately need and deserve our immediate help.
