Individuals who received their first Covid-19 vaccine off-Island can now schedule their second vaccine shot on-Island.
Individuals who received their first Covid-19 vaccine off-Island can now schedule their second vaccine shot on-Island, Martha’s Vineyard Hospital confirmed Tuesday.
Appointments for second-dose shots can be made by calling the MVH Call Center at 508-684-4500. The hospital’s online scheduling app does not currently support second-dose appointments.
The change in policy comes after the Island received an influx of more than 4,000 vaccines through a new partnership between Island Health Care and the federal government.
Supply issues had previously prompted eligible Islanders to head off-Island for their first-dose shots. A spokesman for the hospital confirmed in an email Tuesday that those individuals can now schedule their second-dose shot on the Island, allowing them to avoid a costly trip to the mainalnd.
The hospital still had more than 700 appointments available by Tuesday at 4 p.m. after first-dose appointment signups opened Monday afternoon.

Shout out to Jessica! I don't
Tamara R. Chin Vineyard HavenShout out to Jessica! I don't actually know who you are but you have done an awesome job with getting people appointments at lightening speed! I have even referred people to you and they were amazed and happy about the efficiency. The hospital wasn't getting it done at all.
