A 20-year-old male was airlifted to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston with serious injuries Monday after jumping head first from the Little Bridge in Oak Bluffs, police and EMS confirmed.
Kamil Sodul was stabilized at the scene for an apparent head injury, according to an Oak Bluffs police report. Police and EMS were called to the scene off Seaview avenue just after 3 p.m. Monday. Mr. Sodul had jumped from the bridge head first and struck bottom, according to the report. He was pulled from the water by a group of visiting off-Island firefighters after having a seizure, the report said.
Mr. Sodul was transported by ambulance to the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital and airlifted quickly to the hospital in Boston, according to Oak Bluffs fire chief Martine Greene.
Four other family members and six rental bicycles were at the scene at the time of the accident, according to the police report.
Hospital spokesman Katrina Delgadillo confirmed the airlift later, and said the patient was in stable condition at the time he was airlifted to Boston.
No condition report was immediately available in Boston Tuesday afternoon.

Isn't that the bridge with
John Oak BluffsIsn't that the bridge with prominent signs saying "No Jumping From Bridge"? I see kids jumping there all the time, time for more enforcement there before someone gets paralyzed or killed, it's just too shallow.
Well John the little bridge
Jason Oak BluffsWell John the little bridge is not the Jaws bridge but as far as eforcement on this island it does not exist in most cases.
However I have seen my entire life the OB police police periodically parked on the OB side I assume standing by in case one of the hundreds that walk right by the No Jumping signs from the bridge gets injured.
More enforcement?Should we
Mary OBMore enforcement?Should we Police every crosswalk too? How about personal responsibility?
It was just a matter of time.
KenOB Oak BluffsIt was just a matter of time. I'm surprised it took this long, but I always thought it would happen at big bridge.

Lorraine EdgartownBeing one of the old timers I can recall when life was really risky, but we all survived. Gracious, no seatbelts; gracious, no bike helmets; gracious, no helicopter parents. How on earth did we make it and build the society we did? Must have been the experience of living through incipient disasters. Life is risky; live it and quit worrying.
You are alive and well to
New Englander ProvidenceYou are alive and well to talk about your risky youth, How many people of your age are not because of a lack of seat belts and bike helmets? The dead and seriously injured cannot post comments in the local paper or elsewhere.
Superb comment Lorraine! I
MichaelSuperb comment Lorraine! I survived being raised on MV with the risky boredom of the off-season. I learned that signs were made only for important reasons, and "learn from others' mistakes". And most importantly, honor your parents! Only 3 basic ideas kept me alive and respected.

Bijan C Bayne WashingtonWhen we drove past first bridge yesterday, person in the car commented "That'll be in tomorrow's paper online" (we saw ambulance, crowd, far smaller than 2nd bridge crowd)
