A recent jump in Covid-19 cases on the Vineyard continued Saturday, with Island boards of health reporting two new positive test results for the fourth day in a row.
The boards of health also reported one new probable case, bringing the total coronavirus caseload on the Island to 63 since the pandemic began.
There have now been eight cases reported in the past four days and nine since the Fourth of July, marking the sharpest spike yet in Island cases.
The two new cases on Saturday — both females — were reported to the boards of health through MAVEN, the state’s epidemiological database, but were tested at Martha’s Vineyard Hospital, according to Tisbury health agent Maura Valley.
“The two new PCR positive cases were reported to us through MAVEN but tested at the MV Hospital,” Ms. Valley wrote in an email.
One of the patients is in her 50s and one is in her 30s, according to a daily case report provided by the boards of health.
The boards of health agents also reported a new antibody-positive case on Saturday, marking the 16th person to test positive on the Island for viral antibodies.
