WWII Vets to Roll July 4 in Edgartown

Escorted by police, World War II veterans Bob Falkenberg and Herb Foster will ride in a Jeep down Main Street and back to the Edgartown School.

The big Edgartown parade is off, but two World War II veterans will be taking the route in a Jeep on July 4 in honor of armed forces members who have fallen in service.

Mr. Falkenberg, 93, served with the 25th Infantry Division in Korea and Mr. Foster, 92, with the 24th Infantry Division in the occupation of Japan, according to an announcement of the event.

With an escort from the Edgartown police department, the two veterans will begin their ride in Mr. Foster’s Jeep at 5 p.m., the usual time the parade steps off.
