<p>Easter Sunday marked the fifth day of no new confirmed cases of Covid-19 on Martha's Vineyard. The Island hospital reported only three tests were still outstanding, and no one is hospitalized with the coronavirus.
As Islanders celebrated a quiet Easter Sunday, the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital and Island boards of health delivered a welcome report of no new cases of Covid-19 for the fifth straight day.
Total confirmed cases on Island remains steady at 12, while new infections statewide continue apace.
In its afternoon count Sunday, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health reported 2,615 new confirmed cases, for a total of 24,475. Seventy more people have died, for a total death toll statewide of 756.
As of Sunday morning, the Martha’s Vineyard Hospital had conducted 202 tests, of which 187 were found to be negative. Only three test results are pending, according to the hospital website.
The boards of health later confirmed there were no new cases for the Island Sunday.
Among the 12 laboratory confirmed cases, seven are women and five are men. The age breakdown is as follows: two cases in the 20-29 age group, two in the 30-39 group, six in the 50-59 group and two in the 60-69 group.
Anyone who has symptoms of Covid-19 can call the hospital at 508-684-4500 for telephone screening. The hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Islanders are strongly urged to stay at home, and practice social distancing when going out for needed things.
Face coverings are now required in most Island grocery stores, and shoppers must be solo.

If most of the tests were to the general public, I would expect a much higher percentage of positive results. That assumption is because it seems you have to be pretty sick before you can be given approval to be tested (unless you work in healthcare)
Of the 187 tests, how many are unique individuals & how many are repeat tests on the same person?
Because of privacy laws you
R Scott Patterson EdgartownBecause of privacy laws you will never know unless those tested release that info. Until test are free and available to everyone there is no way to ever know how widespread it is and who has and hasn't contracted it.
The key figure is 195 tests.
Jim AquinnahThe key figure is 195 tests. There are aver 20,000 people here so we know there are more than 12 posititves. Stay the course.
This is proof that the

Every person on the island that's made the sacrifice to follow these guidelines has saved lives. Jim is right - stay the course because this is not over, not yet. Four days with no new cases gives us reason to hope, though.

gina Menemsha/ NYCEncouraging news but have heard from several friends in the Boston area it's very difficult to qualify for a test b/c they are so few available state wide.. 1 must have severe symptoms then wait approx 5 days for results. .. & sent home to quarantine.. Guess isolating MVH. is the best defense..
