Beach Road Weekend Canceled

The multi-day music festival, scheduled for late July, was canceled by the Tisbury selectmen Tuesday afternoon.

Beach Road Weekend has been canceled, following a vote by the Tisbury selectmen Tuesday afternoon.

The multi-day music festival made a successful debut at Veterans Memoral Park in Vineyard Haven last August and was scheduled to return the last weekend in July. Uncertainty about the length and severity of the coronavirus crisis led selectmen to cancel it, as well as the town’s annual Memorial Day picnic.

In an email to the Gazette later Tuesday, concert organizer Adam Epstein said he looked forward to bringing back the festival in 2021.

People who bought advance tickets will receive full refunds, Mr. Epstein said.

Selectmen also discussed canceling the American Legion’s Memorial Day parade and the Tisbury School’s March to the Sea, but held off pending conversations with the legion and school principal John Custer.

Well, more of this is likely as we continue to hibernate through our Corona Spring. Given the lack of mass testing capability and no vaccines I don't see this Summer being a busy one here. I hope I'm wrong for all my business friends.
