There will be an opening reception for the photography of Paul Doherty on Sunday, Oct. 6 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Martha’s Vineyard Film Center.

Mr. Doherty moved to Vineyard in 2013 with his partner David Behnke. He had been an actor and took up photography as a way to heal from two brain surgeries. The exhibit is called Dinghy Scratches.
