On Schedule, On Time

I waited all day and night but when they said it was the dolphins, I said I didn't understand.

Oh ferry my ferry they wouldn’t let me in
I waited all day and night seemed you’d never begin

first they said the weather . . . high winds rough seas
then it was mechanical . . . all that money still no engines please
when they said it was the dolphins I said . . . I don’t understand
dolphins in Woods Hole harbor . . . really . . . when did they land
but dolphins in steamship parlance ties to construction for a slip
a slip . . . I’m not sure why we’re even having it
all I want is a ride . . . take me to my appointment . . . take me bye-bye
take me to the places I need to go . . . I want to go . . . I must go
take me off my precious Island to the mainland and back again
oh ferry my ferry I miss your status quo
I miss the surety of knowing you’ll go when you say you’ll go

Thank you, Jennifer! So, in short, a dolphin is just a slip of a sea form foamed in ferry dust.
