As the former owner of a moped I have some understanding of just how flimsy and unstable a moped is for a rider, not to mention a rider plus passenger. Both bicyclists and motorcycle riders (and passengers) are less vulnerable and more controllable. With our narrow, winding roads and sandy shoulders, mopeds are particularly susceptible to accidents. That the vast majority of renters have little to no prior experience riding mopeds greatly increased the risks.

Going forward, I hope we can save others from some of the awful accidents the Island has witnessed in the past. Let’s keep our Island safe. Mopeds are indeed dangerous.
