Edgartown police said there were no serious injuries in a three-car crash that briefly closed Edgartown-West Tisbury Road Friday evening.
Police said an SUV operated by Edson DeOliveira, 35, of Vineyard Haven rear-ended another vehicle, which then crashed into a third vehicle. The incident took place at about 7:26 p.m. near Oyster Pond Road, police said.
Two individuals were taken by ambulance to Martha’s Vineyard Hospital with minor injuries and were later released, police said. All three vehicles were damaged and two had to be towed away from the scene. Part of Edgartown-West Tisbury Road was closed for about an hour.
Police said Mr. DeOliveira is being cited for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and negligent operation of a motor vehicle.

I REALLY HOPE MR. DE OLIVEIRA GETS MORE THAN JUST A SLAP ON THE WRIST AND ANOTHER $100 FINE. HE WAS CITED IN 2013 FOR THE SAME CHARGE. IT COULD BE JUST A MATTER OF TIME AND HE COULD KILL SOMEONE. WE ARE ALL VERY FORTUNATE TO BE ALIVE
