<p>The Martha&rsquo;s Vineyard All-Island Junior High Band earned a gold medal at the Great East Music Festival.</p>

The Martha’s Vineyard All-Island Junior High Band, composed of seventh and eighth graders from around the Island, earned a gold medal at the Great East Music Festival on May 6 in western Massachusetts.

Students performed Cheyenne a Western Tribute, Highlights from West Side Story, and Aggressivo. The judges said they were impressed with the quality of sound students created, their musicianship, and the excitement they brought to the performance.

The band is directed by Ruth Scudere-Chapman and Julie Schilling.
