Five Vineyard poets shared their poetry with the Edgartown School during a recent student day of poetry, organized by reading specialist Deborah Orazem. Led by Don McLagan, the poets presented and discussed their poems in the gymnasium to an attentive crowd of 158 students in grades five through eight.

Students then went out on field trips and wrote their own poems, which they shared with the group. Student poems were inspired by the prompts dogs, dragons, salt, or vacation.

In addition to Mr. McLagan, the poets were Ellie Bates, Rachel Convery, Tom Durawa and Jennifer Turner.

April was poetry month.
