Thanks to a newly-upgraded FM signal, mvyradio is now broadcasting to all corners of the Island and other parts of southeastern Massachusetts.

MVY Upgrade Thanks to a newly-upgraded FM signal, mvyradio is now broadcasting to all corners of the Island and other parts of southeastern Massachusetts.

The Vineyard Haven-based radio station announced in August that they have powered up their 88.7 FM signal from 480 watts to 12,000 watts. With FCC approval, the station purchased and installed a new transmitter and antenna by raising more than $150,000 from major donors in March and April.

According to a press release from the station, mvy’s programming will now reach Chilmark, Aquinnah, and Katama, where coverage had been spotty.
