Alex has been coming to the Vineyard all his life, to his family’s summer home in Chilmark. Shana had also been coming to the Vineyard, but they met in Brooklyn where they reside off-season. Their two children were part of the joy of the wedding, with six-year-old Elijah (Alex’s son from his first marriage) doing the important job of ring bearer, and their baby Chloe joining them on the dance floor.

Rabbi Caryn Broitman of the Martha’s Vineyard Hebrew Center married the couple as they stood under a chuppah covered with Vineyard flowers. Dozens of children played croquet and ate pizza while their parents drank in the natural beauty along with fine wines.

Shana’s father, David Yam, gave a tribute to the couple, followed by one in verse by her stepmother, Beth, and one by Alex’s mother, Ellen Luborsky. But before they spoke, Alex gave a touching tribute to family, the Vineyard, and his new wife. The glow of the afternoon lasted long after the sun had set.

Congratulations to the happy couple and their families! May their lives together be long and filled with grace, health, happiness, and prosperity. I know that Shana's father and stepmother are filled with joy.
