Last year there were no contested offices in any of our six towns on the Vineyard during the spring elections. Now is the time for people to start thinking about serving on a local board or committee for the coming year.

Last year there were no contested offices in any of our six towns on the Vineyard during the spring elections. Now is the time for people to start thinking about serving on a local board or committee for the coming year. Talk with people who have served. Find out how satisfying civic involvement can be. You can make a real difference in your town.

The deadlines to submit your papers to become a candidate are as follows:

Aquinnah, April 9;

Chilmark, March 10;

Edgartown, Feb. 20;

Oak Bluffs, Feb. 20;

Tisbury, March 25;

West Tisbury, Feb. 20.

Actually many island folks including myself are just totally disgusted with the island politics as we are in the minority here and out numbered greatly so we just watch as things merrily roll along.

Ewell Hopkins Oak Bluffs

It is important to note that the last day to obtain nomination papers in Oak Bluffs is Tuesday, Feb 18th. Feb 20th is the deadline to to submit signed nomination papers to the Town Clerk... 5PM!
