This is an open letter to President Obama. I’m writing to express my opposition to the Keystone XL Pipeline from the tar sands of Alberta to The Gulf Coast. It’s time for the country to begin a new paradigm, off fossil fuels. Rejecting the pipeline is a step in that direction.
And part of that new paradigm involves a Greater Canyonlands National Monument in Southern Utah. With all the recent oil and gas development going on in Southern Utah, it’s time to protect some land too. The scenic and wild value of this land should be protected for future generations and would be a welcome addition to your legacy.

We need all the energy we can
Peter Robb Holliston and Oak BluffsWe need all the energy we can get. We can debate routing the XL pipeline but most Americans agree it is a good idea. Environmentalists argue it will contribute to Global Warming. Truth is, the Chinese are already negotiating for this same fuel. It will be burned by someone, better by us. It will be done correctly and help us free ourselves from the madness that is the Middle East.
For starters, weather we use
Erik Albert Oak BluffsFor starters, weather we use the fuel or The Chinese, it will still contribute to global warming. I personally don't see much hope for the future environment but I would like to know that my country chose a different path. Also we get the majority of our oil from Mexico, Canada, Venezuela and Nigeria. Very little comes from The Middle East. If America got off of fossil fuels it would lesson world wide demand and lower the price of oil which would hurt oil exporting, dependent economies. We could then sell the new technology to the world. Or you could just say "drill, baby, drill"
