Super Tuesday is Primary Day

<p> Tuesday, March 6 is Super Tuesday, when 10 states across the nation, and all Island towns, will hold primary elections for the 2012 presidential race.</p> <p></p> <p> The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Oak Bluffs library, Edgartown town hall, the Tisbury American Legion Hall, the Chilmark Community Center and Aquinnah town hall.</p> <p></p>

Tuesday, March 6 is Super Tuesday, when 10 states across the nation, and all Island towns, will hold primary elections for the 2012 presidential race.

The polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Oak Bluffs library, Edgartown town hall, the Tisbury American Legion Hall, the Chilmark Community Center and Aquinnah town hall.

Voters enrolled in a political party (Deocratic, Republican or Green-Rainbow) may vote only in that party’s primary. Unenrolled, or independent, voters may vote in the primary of their choice. Republican presidential candidates listed on the ballot include Mitt Romney, Rick Santorum, Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul, as well as former candidates Jon Huntsman, Rick Perry and Michele Bachmann. Green-Rainbow candidates include Kent Mesplay, Jill Stein and Harley Mikkelson. Only President Barack Obama is featured on the Democratic primary ballot.
