Offshore Wind Meeting

Offshore wind energy development in Rhode Island and Massachusetts will be the topic of discussion this week when the state Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs hosts a special public meeting on the Vineyard.

The meeting will be held at the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School on Thursday, Sept. 16 at 5:30 p.m. All are welcome. Officials from the state EEA will join with members of the Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council to discuss offshore energy development plans for both Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Another meeting will be held in Dartmouth on Wednesday night. Last month Gov. Deval Patrick and Rhode Island Gov. Donald Carcieri signed a memorandum of understanding to collaborate on offshore energy projects. The meeting will include a question and answer session; public comments will be accepted through Sept. 24.
